The Software Engineering Institute is a federally funded research and development center sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense and operated by Carnegie Mellon University. The SEI works closely with defense and government organizations, industry, and academia to improve software-intensive systems. The SEI accelerates innovation in software development, acquisition, and sustainment to achieve competitive advantage in current and future software-reliant systems by assuring quality, timeliness, trust, and affordability.
The SEI also identifies and applies emerging software technologies to meet critical needs and develops advanced methods and technologies to counter large-scale, sophisticated cyber threats through its CERT® Division, a national asset in the field of cybersecurity that partners with government, industry, law enforcement, and academia.
